I'm in the FEC building, listening to a speaker give a lecture on campaign finance reform. This is some rough stuff, to hear him tell it.

Apparently, the FEC is in the process of formalizing regulation on political speech on the internet, particularly who gets the press exemption. Money quote from a hearing earlier today on which bloggers get the press exemption:

"If you give everyone the press exemption, then everyone will have the press exemption, and you'll have a nation full of people commenting on national politics."

Wow.
