Far be it from me to comment on something as grand and complex as the war in Iraq. Thus, I will let others do so, and merely point you in there direction. I will say, generally speaking, people shouldn't overlook the lives and years spent preserving the existence of our democracy. The numbers of deceased from the Revolution, War of 1812, and the Civil War amount to no mean figure.
Take a look at Reason's Q & A with a number of commentators.
For whatever reason, the last line of Nick Gillespie's comments struck me:
"Given how we started this war and bungled the occupation, that grim denouement is probably the most responsible course of action."
Though, Charles Murray's answer to the third question had to be the most honest:
3. What should the U.S. do in Iraq now?
"Damned if I know."
