Skyfire
I've posted this picture before, but I was struck by its vividness recently. It's the only picture in my archives that in any way compares to pictures I've seen of Maine's sunsets. Yeah, you read that right. I may have worshipped Athenian/Hellenic sunsets, but even I must say I'm eagerly anticipating the decline and fall of daylight's orb. Eagerly anticipating? Indeed I am.
Thanks to Dave Pulliam's generosity, I'll be exploring Port Clyde and its environs at the conclusion of my time in Washington D.C. Among the activities promised: fishing, kayaking, cliff-diving, getting lost in the fog, drinking with lobstermen, and, if we're lucky, getting caught in the perfect storm. No, but seriously, Maine promises to be amazing...or at least Dave's promises as much. For me, it just means my travels are extended that much more, even if some people aren't too happy about it.
I'll be putzing about Penobscot Bay for a little under a week, before retiring to my usual quarters on the West Coast. Of course, all this is long in the future and there are many adventures to be had (and yet to be related) in the interim.
