Errant Notes
Well, well, well. I'm having a little trouble reconstructing how Prof. Richter managed to work this into the lecture, this note I just found sandwiched between lines of Virgil:
Note: “If you ever going to sodomize an animal, sodomize a cow.”It's followed by these lines:
- His, hrm, offbeat Latin professor in collegeAh, I begin to recall in some way. He had an odd professor who once said that to him in class. How on earth he managed to become the next generation of odd professor to me...now that will demand some musing.
- Bos-feros (cow-carrier)
- Divinity is recognized in Egypt and worshipped as Isis
- Result of a series of mistakes about Egyptian iconography
- Crescent of Isis (moon-worship), the Roman and Greeks said that it must be Io because they thought they were horns
- True story: ran from cows in Heidleburg, thinking they were bulls en route to a tiny cottage to study syntax for three days
Ah yes, Latin finals. Syntax and sins of the flesh co-mingling to a soundtrack of Stan Kenton (courtesy of the iPod). Somehow, I feel more like Douglas Wheelock than Frederic.
It makes so much sense if you click on the links...
