The mighty Los Angeles River. Little did the natives know, but beneath the soggy banks of this placid river, many years before a group of engineering inebriates time-traveling from an MIT time-traveling convention had landed in the river. Their response? To attempt to build the world's largest concrete canoe. The project failed spectacularly, the canoe sunk, and it only after a series of particularly brutal floods was the true concrete base of the river revealed (centuries of sediment having been swept away).

Meanwhile, to this day, the "MIT Seven" have never resurfaced, though grim rumors of an encounter with Morlocks have drifted through the fog of time.
