Ongoing Edification

As part of my ongoing battle against personal cultural entropy and becoming an uncouth barbarian, I've come up with a new means of adding aural edification to my work day.

Thanks to my trusty iPod, I'm tackling the Defense Appropriations Bill (and actually watching CSPAN to scoff in disgust at the swine, er, legislators that are driving our country into the ground) to the tunes of Gustav Mahler. That might not seem to novel, but get this. I'm only listening to Mahler. Specifically four selections. Again. And again...and again. By day's end, I plan on being unshakably familiar with Symphonie Nr.1, "Der Titan." It took a little getting into, but I'm grooving now and heartily recommend the piece for any who are attempting to feel good about what they're putting in their ears besides Q-Tips (which I could use right now, I might add).

And if you're feeling a little too well culturally informed, here's an idea for something to take off that head of intellectual steam you've been building up.
