Listening to Courtiers
A bit odd, but this is an interesting thing to add to the debate as to whether Supreme Court proceedings should be televised. You can access the oral arguments here, at OYEZ. No, I haven't bothered to figure out what on earth the wacky acronym means, but I'm sure it's something entertaining or deeply meaningful. I'm interested in hearing the argumentation for Kelo v. New London, last year's eminent domain case that caused such a great hue and cry. I had the chance, over the summer, to hear Dana Berliner speak, one of the Institute for Justice lawyers who argued the case. To put it bluntly, she had a voice that was the verbal equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. As was snidely remarked over dinner after her lecture, no wonder they lost that case.
But she was a great speaker (in content), and I'd love to hear how she sounds in court. So, that's what I'll be doing instead of studying.
