Willy Wonka drove by in a slightly battered Chevy, a car from an era when Nip didn't have tuck following it and Kraut wasn't just slang for some veg on your Dodger dog.

Every time his hood caught the reflection of an apartment complex, the building would fold into the velvet black curves and disappear, popping out of the exhaust moments later in extreme miniature (I saw a tenflat place come out looking like a Belgian waffle).

D.C. truly is a strange place.
